5 Ways to Desgn Your Website

For some desihow to start a websitegning a website might be very simple but for others the complex coding can scare them away. For years, emphasis has been placed on website design to convey the right message to the website visitors. I have identified five ways on how to achieve a website design that is bound to improve a business’s online presence.

1.      Hire a Freelancer

A freelance web designer is a good option usually when the budget is limited. When choosing a freelancer, it is better to meet him/her personally and find out more about his/her capabilities, expertise and design portfolio. I have noted that freelance web designers have more control over their work since they have freedom over what they do. Of course they keep into consideration the client’s requirements when designing a website. Personally I feel freelance web designers quickly respond to problems presented by clients during and after completion of the project.

2.      Use Templates

A website design template is best because of the following factors: quality, functionality and cost. It is a ready-made design for the website that only requires the addition of content. I feel with website templates, the process of launching a website is quickened. Moreover, the range of template options available makes it easy for creating a website according to the requirements. I find it quite easy to tweak a template since I don’t need to work with any codes and yet get a professional template modified to my requirements.

3.      DIY by Learning HTML

Of course, there are some people who might opt for designing a website on their own so that they have control over the entire website. With HTML, designers can have a better understanding of how different web design elements work together to create an aesthetically pleasant and functional website. A lot of money is saved when professional website designers are not hired for website designing. I believe when you have complete understanding of the HTML codes, you are able to create a website fully according to your requirements and modify it quickly when needed.

4.      Rely On an Available E-Commerce Solution

Businesses today can easily take advantages of ready-made ecommerce solutions such as Volusion or Magento for establishing a quick online shop. With a wide array of options, these online shopping solutions save a lot of time than designing an ecommerce solution for your business. I am quite happy with how such convenient solutions easily allow customizing the online store in a matter of minutes. Not only are they user-friendly solutions but also have enough security features to give a pleasant online shopping experience to the customers.

5.      Use Web Design Software

Web design software, such as Dreamweaver and x site pro 2, are excellent tools for amateur web developers who have just stepped into web development.  These web design software create codes for the user automatically and is thus beneficial for those who do not have much knowledge about HTML coding. Switching between the design view and code view is pretty easy in such software. This comes in pretty handy when the website has to be viewed as to how it would look online. If there are any syntax errors in the code, these can be easily corrected since tools like Dreamweaver points them out and help correct them.  I appreciate the many tools that such software provides in terms of navigation, menus, pictures, and more.

My step-by-step tutorial is designed for the layperson who either is interested in promoting the business or an internet marketer who wishes to expand his/her knowledge base. With the entire website designing process simplified, you can enjoy your website up and running in no time!

Start Your Own Email Marketing Campaign

Email marketing is a cost-effective marketing tool that can be used effectively to promote a company’s products and services online to targeted customers. If you are faced with the question of how to do business on the internet, email marketing campaign is the best way to build and retain customers. Regardless of the category or industry the business is operating in, email marketing allows direct communication with the customers and has a positive impact on business sales.

For business owners, I feel that email marketing carries heavy weighage because it provides them with the opportunity of converting their potential customers into loyal lifetime ones down the road. It is common to notice that first time visitors to a website normally do not make a purchase. They look around to get a feel of the company and their brands and make comparisons with competitors’ products. Smart businesses realize the opportunity here to offer value to these potential customers and stay in touch with them. With an email campaign in place, a lead capture process can be initiated that attracts customers to revisit the website.

Wonders of Email Marketing

Speeds Sales Conversions

For a sales process to initiate, repetition is the key. This is because research shows that shoppers make a purchase decision after they have been exposed nine times to a product. On the internet, once the exit button on the website is clicked, there is no other way to get the visitor back unless and until their email address is captured to follow up on them. With a series of email messages to email subscribers, they can be constantly updated with product information and special offers.

Acquire Repeat Sales

It is ten times more expensive to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one. I consider focusing on capitalizing the lifetime value of an existing customer who shows a higher chance of repeat sales and can indulge in word-of-mouth advertising of the brand. It is therefore important to keep in touch with existing customers on a regular basis to generate profitable repeat sales.

Sell More Than Your Customer Intends To Purchase

Personally, I feel the best part of email campaign is the ability to up-sell and cross-sell the company’s other products and services. It involves making recommendations to customers about other related products that might interest them and boost sales.

Starting an Email Campaign

Before starting any email marketing campaign, I make sure to research the target market to see which specific needs the product best fits. An email campaign that is targeted to specific segments has a higher chance of success. In an email marketing campaign, companies can opt to send newsletters that feature special offers, new products and services, free gifts and giveaways, video demonstrations on product usage, and customer feedback.

AWeber is one such email marketing software that provides complete functionality to build an effective email marketing campaign. It allows easy management of the e-newsletter, auto responders and other email messages to specific audience right from email templates to tracking performance statistics.

AWeber allows easy creation of sign-up forms for the website for collecting visitor information. This means that subscriber lists can be effortlessly created and subscriber activity can be monitored. The subscribers in the target market can be segmented with AWeber based on their activity to build customer loyalty and providing them with more targeted product information.

I feel the best part of AWeber is that it has very good deliverability rates. This implies that there are fewer chances of emails sent from AWeber to be classified as junk mail or spam.

It is easy to set up your Aweber account (hyperlink AWeber) and that too at affordable rates. I would advise you to go through the video tutorials of AWeber for familiarity with the software.

How to Get the Right Content for Your Site

When it comes to an effective website, a major chunk of its success is awarded to its content. I must admit that content has been attributed to as some sort of royalty. With great content comes great traffic; that too organic. Good website content has the power to grasp people’s attention and make them visit it again and again. Content allows online businesses to direct the viewer to make a purchase and turn him/her into a customer. Therefore, effective content creates brand loyalty for a firm’s products and services and generates increased sales.

Any online interactive experience thrives on content as one of the major portions. Although getting the right content for building a new website or polishing an existing one can be a hard road but it cannot be used as an excuse not to provide users with a quality experience.  I believe with a good content strategy in place, a great copy for the website can be achieved. An analysis of website is essential in terms of the business goal, the website audience, the competitor’s strategy, and content creation.

Getting Content for Your Website

I must say, it must be quite overwhelming to find great quality web content for your website. Here are some sources that can be used for a creative professional website.

1. Use Existing Content

Some businesses might already have content for items such as magazine articles, books, and print advertisements. Rather than starting from scratch, I would suggest working on them and adding a touch of fresh creativity for the web copy.

2. Do-It-Yourself

No one can understand a business’s needs better than the business owner himself/ herself. Although creating content for website can be relevant to your needs but I would recommend relying on other sources for timely content upgrades.

3. Hire Freelancers

The web now provides opportunities for freelancers to sell their talent. Websites such as eLance and Freelancer can be used to hire great writers that create exceptional content for the website. I must add here that you should brief them about what you want, the tone and the length and the deadline to receive relevant website content on time.

4. Interviews with Experts

My experience teaches me that you need to find the right expert for your content. They could be experts in your niche or case studies of people who have achieved a lot professionally. I usually list down the questions that I need answers for before conducting the interview for creating engaging web content. This interviewed content can be made available on the website in the form of audio, video or written content.

5. Use PLR Material

PLR (Private Label Rights) is a ready made content package on a certain topic that is available online for free or by payment for website owners. I find it pretty useful for website owners who need content on a quick notice. One thing that should be noted is that the rewritten content should be at least 60% different from the PLR content.

I feel creating related content is important since it links the many pages of the website together. While considering content, it is best to find a sweet spot which is a blend of keywords, back links, social signals and creative content so that search engine spiders can sweep the website up. Whether you decide to create content yourself or hire expert content writers, I would first suggest highlighting the style or voice of the content, the topics and themes covered, and the target users.

My step-by-step tutorial regarding creating great web content is designed for the layperson who either is interested in promoting the business or an internet marketer who wishes to expand his/her knowledge base.

Creating a Website- A Simplified Process

Websites today are a necessity. Establishing an online presence is essential today to get word out about a business and to serve customers in a much better way. In my opinion, regardless of whether a business has a brick-and-mortar store or solely an online portal for conducting business transactions, websites are essential to building a brand and competing with rivals.

For some, creating a website might seem a very complicated process and limited to the realm of technical experts. But with countless software available nowadays, it is very easy for even a layperson to create a website from scratch.

I have simplified the entire process below with a step-by-step guide on how to start a website within a short period of time.

Step 1: Registering the Domain Name

A website’s first impression is created with a domain name. It’s fair to say that the domain name, once selected, would be a representation of a business to its customers. There are certain things that I consider very important in selecting a domain name. The domain name should be related to the website’s content, be easy to remember, short and has a proper extension (.com, .net or .org). Registering a domain name is similar to registering a business name in the physical world. In order to register for a domain name, annual fees have to be paid to the domain registrar that is selected.

Step 2: Create a Web Host Account

A web host account gives a platform to launch the online business. I consider getting a web hosting account is similar to renting out an office or shop for a physical business. In my opinion, when selecting a web hosting service, it is a bad idea to avoid any low priced offers because they aren’t worth it. It is advisable to get a host account that has a good reputation in terms of reliability and customer service so that problems such as down times can be avoided. Once this is done, the domain name and host account should be linked by listing the host name in the domain account.

Step 3: Build the Website

Its now time to build the website and depending on one’s expertise, it can either be a DIY task or can be assigned to a web designer. For a DIY task, I would suggest getting your hands on a good WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web editor such as Dreamweaver for designing the website. This will aid in keeping the web page design, HTML codes and website creation process a simplified task. WordPress is another tool that helps in creating simple websites in just a few clicks. I would recommend going through my tutorial on How to Design Your Website (hyperlink to that tutorial) for complete step-by-step guide to creating a fully functional website.

Step 4: Testing your Website

I consider the website testing phase the most important phase of the website design cycle. With so many different browsers and their different versions, it is important to test the website in all of them to ensure smooth functionality. Usually, I also check the coding of the web pages for any syntax errors with web page validators that are widely available online.

Once the testing phase is done, its time to publish the website online for everyone to see. My step-by-step tutorial is designed for the layperson who either is interested in promoting the business or an internet marketer who wishes to expand his/her knowledge base. With the entire website creation process simplified, you can enjoy your website up and running in no time!
